Coming from a background as a competitive athlete, Jay believes that when a person finds a physical discipline they enjoy, being fit becomes a welcomed “side effect”. Having step foot in a wide range of disciplines, he is able to draw relations to the problems faced by his students and teach them accordingly. He gets his ecstasy when he sees his students, or just about anyone having their breakthrough.

Not one to simply teach, for the student to achieve the physical movement itself, he pays attention to the mental aspect of training greatly, because like ‘strength’, ’flexibility’, ‘mobility’ or any other physical abilities, ‘confidence’ can be trained progressively. 

Having a combat martial art background, his learning from Gymnastics as an adult, together with some dabbling in Parkour, gives Jay a very hands-on knowledge of the movement mechanics of the human body, and how to apply proper (and not fancy) conditioning/drill to best serve the need of the student, which is unable to be taught via theories alone.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Jay also likes to explore other discipline to supplement his trade. So while his expertise lies in teaching gymnastics and bodyweight movement, the knowledge from other disciplines gives him the tool to see the bigger picture.

Jay strongly advocates teaching a student at the pace he/she should be learning at. That way, they can progress to become a better and independent learner.


I have been training with Jay since 2015. I had very poor body awareness, mobility and flexibility and was prone to injuries, so much so that my orthopaedic surgeon commented that I was starting a collection. Under Jay’s patient coaching (and I’m a very slow learner), I’m amazed at how far I’ve progressed, looking back at what I couldn’t do 5 years ago to what I could achieve today, which I never thought was possible. Jay patiently taught me how to listen to my body while safely executing exercises within my abilities, always mindful of my history of injuries. His quirky humour and creativity in figuring out ways to help me understand and execute a move safely ensures that there’s never a dull or slack-off moment during training. I give 5 stars!

My husband and I have been fortunate enough to train with Jay for almost two years.  Jay is a master at fitness programming as he has trained us throughout many different circumstances (in-person, virtually, powerpoint) and environments (fitness studio, gymnastics gym, outdoor, home gym) with great attention to detail and without compromising quality.  Jay focuses on the precision of movement and is very strategic how he layers the workout to ensure we meet our goals.  We look forward to every training session and would highly recommend!
